Grown and made in Ohio
Ohio Proud is a marketing program run by the Ohio Department of Agriculture since 1993 to identify food and agricultural products made and grown in the state. To qualify, a product must be at least 50% grown, raised or processed in Ohio.
That makes the label a useful shortcut, but it is not the only proof. Asking a farm where an ingredient was grown is always fair. Newer Ohio crops are also appearing: OSU Extension has tested American elderberry cultivars for Ohio farmers as an alternative cash crop, noting that local markets are still developing.
What does Ohio Proud mean?
A food or farm product with at least half of it grown, raised or processed in Ohio, under a program of the Ohio Department of Agriculture.
