What they make
Storehouse Tea Company is a woman-owned tea maker in Cleveland, founded by Paula Hershman about 14 years before a May 2024 article. It began blending herbal teas in a church kitchen and since 2015 has worked from a 1,500-square-foot organic kitchen in the Clark-Fulton neighborhood. It hand-blends loose-leaf teas from more than 50 organic ingredients and offers sachets and ice tea pouches. It sells wholesale, makes private-label blends for local cafes, and offers sample packets.
Written from public sources: Woman-owned Storehouse Tea Company keeps outgrowing its space (New Hope Network). Not yet verified by the maker.
What 'Ohio coffee' really means
Coffee and tea plants do not grow in Ohio's climate, so the beans and leaves come from other countries. What is Ohio-made is the work in the middle: sourcing, roasting, blending and packing, done in small batches by local roasters.
That is a fair thing to buy, and a roaster that is open about it is a good sign. Look for a roast date on the bag, the origin of the beans, and whether the shop roasts on site.
Is Ohio coffee grown in Ohio?
No. The beans are imported. The Ohio part is the roasting and blending, which is where freshness and flavor are decided.
