What they make

Young's Jersey Dairy is a working dairy farm at 6880 Springfield-Xenia Road in Yellow Springs, Ohio, where relatives of the Young family built the red barn in 1869. The family began selling Jersey milk directly to the public in 1958 and opened a dairy store in 1960, which began dipping ice cream. Ice cream is made on site, and farmstead cheese, produced since 2009, comes only from the farm's Jersey herd. Varieties include cheddar, Baby Swiss, Gouda and fresh cheddar curds. Dan Young is CEO.

Swiss cheese country, in the middle of Ohio

Holmes County Baby Swiss

Holmes County is Ohio's Swiss cheese heartland. Guggisberg Cheese, founded in 1950 by Swiss immigrants Alfred and Margaret Guggisberg, pioneered Baby Swiss there in the 1960s.

Baby Swiss is a Swiss-style cheese developed there. The area once supported 40 to 50 cheese makers and still has a handful, drawing milk from nearby farms, many of them Amish.
