Holmes County Baby Swiss
Holmes County is Ohio's Swiss cheese heartland. Guggisberg Cheese, founded in 1950 by Swiss immigrants Alfred and Margaret Guggisberg, pioneered Baby Swiss there in the 1960s.
Baby Swiss is a Swiss-style cheese developed there. The area once supported 40 to 50 cheese makers and still has a handful, drawing milk from nearby farms, many of them Amish.
